As someone living in the vicinity of Mt St Helens, what do you recall of that day?
Laura and I didn't migrate to the NW until a year later. But one of the first things we did on arrival was drive the long unpaved road the rangers created along the newly filled valley to the base of the mountain. It was like a lunar landscape then.
