...On A Grand Scale


Looking just to the right from my last picture...
Mt. St. Helens is on the right, looming large.  It is poofing steam, but most of what you see is the coastal overcast which stops there.  In the distance, on the left, is Mt. Adams, about 50 miles away.  To give some idea of the scale, the "mound" below Mt. Adams, in the left center, is Johnston Ridge.  It's nearly 2000 feet above the beginnings of the Toutle River, which you can see glistening in the early morning sun.
