From the same vantage point next to the bridge, here comes a barge boat pushing 4 connected barges into the lock to go around the dam. The city of The Dalles is across the river on the Oregon side.

It's one of my obsessions but I wonder what the smell of this river is. In France for example, the Loire has a particular "cold and penetrating smell of mud and fish" said a poet who lived for a long time in its proximity.
