The Great Blue Heron is not exactly graceful on the ground. They stand about 4 feet tall, looking a bit like medieval monks. But in the air, their 6 to 7-foot wingspan allows them to glide through the sky in a very awe-inspiring way. We are lucky to have them year-round.

A wonderful frame of minimalism

Lucky indeed. And birds' (most of them) natural space is in the air after all.

Ahora en el cielo, se ve pequeña, debida a la altura que ha alcanzado.

Fine photo of this wonderful bird. Great Blue herons migrate south here in the fall. They are still around here, but not for too much longer.

El vuelo de las aves es casi siempre majestuoso. El cielo es espectacular.

Looks wonderful and if it has the sky to itself.

Hi Bill. Beautiful photo of the heron in flight, and I love that sky!
