 Christmas afternoon was quite lovely with just enough sunshine to make things glow.  The trees are so covered with moss, they look like they still have leaves.

 This odd looking vessel, the Amy Brusco, is a barge pusher.  You can see them up and down the Columbia River, particularly between the wheat fields of the east and Portland.  Note the Osprey nest atop the far piling at the Brusco tugboat yard in Cathlamet.  The net-covered temporary structures in the foreground are fish pens utilized by hatcheries nearby before the fish are eventually released.

 Looking more than a thousand feet down, the river seems like just a trickle.
The Toutle River was about 300 feet lower before Mt. St. Helens exploded and filled the entire valley with ash, mud, and debris.
