A Different Path
Wildly different emotions today...
Today is my last as a full-time broadcaster.
I am now semi-retired, working just two mornings a week to help clients with creative work and production.
That means more time for more adventures for the two of us!
Let's go!

This little swallow doesn't believe what he's hearing!

These lily pads glow in the dappled sunlight!

Close

Closer

Too Close!
We were glad to see this great blue heron while walking the lake on  Saturday.  He was happy to pose-- till we got a bit too close.  But Laura and I both got lots of pictures!

The Edge Of The Lake
...with the morning sun shining through the trees

You Don't Have To Be Loud...
...a little mystery works just fine.

Even When Life Hangs You
Upside Down...
...you can still be beautiful!

A Thousand Points Of Light?
How many times do we take the time to really stop and see what's around us each day?  Take the time.  It's worth it.

Cliff Face Bouquets

Even on the rainy western part of the Columbia River, the cliff faces show the same basalt structure you see on the dry side of the Cascade Mountains.  But the variety of colorful plant life is amazing.

Skimming...

The swallow is flying inches above the water--
and his own reflection.

Friendly

This little swallow was happy to have his picture taken...
He only charged us 50 gnats apiece.

Sunday, July 20, 2014

Hi!
What are you doing out there?

Old, But Still Afloat...

We Want Sushi!
There are actually 4 of them up there.  There are quite a few
platforms like this along the lower Columbia.  They aren't eagles, and they aren't vultures--my guess is they're ospreys.

To The Pacific and Beyond

The Josco Changzhou with a full cargo,
slips smoothly by us-- headed west to the Pacific
and the Orient.  It's a fine looking ship.

Watching Ships...
...something I love to do!

Still Standing, Proud!
This old granary is at least 10 stories tall, sitting in a canyon in North-Central Oregon.

Windy
Looking toward Astoria, Oregon, from The Washington side of the Columbia River, not far from where it meets the Pacific--

Colorful!

Laura
And Her Mountain
She's lining up a shot of Mt. St. Helens.
She calls me her "Sweet Hubby."
I call her my best friend.

Taking Root...
...anywhere!

Beautiful blooms from plants growing in old pilings
on the Columbia River

Eyes Right!
While we were visiting Coldwater Lake near Mt. St. Helens on Sunday, this Canada Goose family came in parade formation.  Mama is at the front, Dad is bringing up the rear, and all 13 (!) of the brood are wondering about the guy with the camera.

It's Time For Wildflowers!

Yesterday morning on Coldwater Ridge.  It couldn't have been any better than this.

Moving Through Mountains...
A mile long, 100 car "unit" coal train, snakes from one tunnel to another on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge.

The Mural On The Winery Wall
With lots of good humor, the proprietors of this winery duplicated the vineyard on the winery wall--down to the geese that wander between the vines.
