The wildflowers come back every year, growing through the volcanic debris on Johnston Ridge, but this year is even more amazing because of the unusual heat and a significant lack of rain.

An impossibly beautiful afternoon at Johnston Ridge...

The wildflowers are still blooming on Johnston Ridge, nearly 2000 feet above the valley below.  And Mt. St. Helens looms above it all.  

After the rain...

Mt. St. Helens is still hiding behind the clouds, but the wetlands are glowing after our first bit of rain in months.
