This replica of Stonehenge was started in 1918, and finished in 1927-- a memorial to those who died in World War I. It's on the Washington side of the Columbia River and is owned and maintained by the Maryhill Art Museum.
That explains why it looks so much better than ours it's a bit newer. Rather strange to pick a pre-Christian edifice in a country like America. Perhaps they didn't realise.

The businessman who commissioned it understood that, but wanted it to suggest that the dead were sacrificial victims to the "god of war".
