I've seen huge formations of hundreds of geese this year-- some with ten times as many as this group. I think many from the north are wintering here, along with the ones we have year round. They make me smile with their "complaining' as they fly overhead.

it's always a fascinating sight when geese, cranes and storks migrate. and that noise up there, you wonder what they're saying to each other throughout the journey

As long as they can find food and open water they will be there all winter.

I am not sure why geese honk when they fly. Perhaps it is communication to stay in the flock? Or perhaps, "Here I come, get out of my way!"
