Just over 44 years ago, hundreds of thousands of trees were blown down by the eruption of Mt. St. Helens. This old stump still has many friends among the ferns and wildflowers
The remnants of that eventful day....what do you hear, about Mt. St. Helens recently? All we get down here on the news is that it may be coming to life, with so many earthquakes beneath it. But Hood gets lots of small quakes too, doesn't it?
So nice seeing that the area has recovered somewhat. I was there many years ago. A special place in my heart for the mountain and the lake. A wonderful vacation trip at that time.

It is hard to believe it was that long ago. The cycle of life does continue to roll on.
