Sad. And common.

The tradition of the "Family Farm" has long past. Now even families who own farms are incorporated, and family members own shares in the corporation. Other large corporations own vast tracks of land that are farmed by hired workers, or rented. This is part of our unstable vertically integrated supply of food.

Its sad to see. Its happening here too. Just south of town, former farm fields are being turned into what could pass as a small city. Over 300 houses so far, increasing traffic and burden on local services. And the houses, from the back side, all look exactly the same. You couldn't tell them apart in the dark.
