Just one of many rural 1 room schoolhouses from around the turn of the last century, the 8-Mile School, near Dufur, Oregon, was built in 1904. It served farm kids until the 1940s.
My mother-in-law taught in a school like that one, as did her mother in Lapeer Michigan. They both taught all grades. It amazes me that they did it with such success.
It looks so isolated now! In my primary school years I went to a one room and then a 2 room school house. They were rural but surrounded by small farms and houses.
Que maravilla de foto Bill. Me recuerda una serie de tv que vi hace tiempo en la que unos niños y niñas acudían a una escuela como esta. Me encanta tu foto
