Barge traffic is surprisingly active on the Columbia River. Two of these four barges are for grain (wheat or barley). The one in the back on the far side is for petroleum products, and the other is loaded with containers. This array of four barges is being pushed by a tugboat with a high wheelhouse that allows the pilot to see over the barges. It's headed into the locks that will take the whole thing through The Dalles Dam.

Gracias a la buena perspectiva podemos contemplar las cuatro barcazas, todo ello en un espacio precioso.

Fine photo of this barge tow. We also see barges traveling up and down the Mississippi River. They are loaded with grain, coal, and other products.

Un gran rio tiene que ser el Columbia para permitir el trafico de esas grandes barcazas. Bonita fotografía.

Nothing compares to the calm yet powerful force of a river current. This barge does a very tough job. A very impressive moment.

I like to watch the cargo ships and barges come through the bar headed up the Columbia, from Hammond small boat basin but I've never been up the gorge to see them go through the locks.
